Lateral(Side) Impact Protection
Sideways loss of balance is one of the most dangerous moments during an unexpected descent, particularly because it places the hips and shoulders at risk. Lateral balance disruptions frequently result in high-impact contact with the hip or shoulder.
Participants learn protective movement patterns that help:
• redirect momentum
• protect vulnerable joints
• distribute force safely
• maintain awareness during ground contact
These skills are derived from judo’s ukemi methodology and form part of the Ukemi Health Protection Pathway™, a structured system designed to reduce injury risk during unexpected descent.
